In this 2 part class, students will have a hands-on workshop to create their very own edition of prints. No experience necessary! Students will make one-of-a-kind pieces out of copper, brass, aluminum, and lightweight copper. Class participants will be able to create very small mixed-media metalwork pieces that they can use to create earrings, brooches, collage focal points, little framed works, journal accents, etc. Most supplies will be provided in your kit but please bring a small tube of E-6000 glue, scissors, and a black Sharpie pen. The supply fee will be paid directly to the instructor. You will design a small sun-catcher, select and cut the glass, grind each piece, foil them, and then solder the glass pieces together. Learn the basics of throwing on a potter’s wheel in this introductory two-session workshop. In the first class, students will learn the techniques of wedging, centering, and opening a vessel. In the second session, students will learn to trim the vessel made in the first class. This workshop is designed to build confidence in students enabling them to work in the open clay studio independently. Class size is limited to 4 students so register early! In these 3 hour, one day classes you will learn basic hand-building techniques such as coil, slab and pinch pots and how to create both functional/ sculptural pottery. Additionally, surface design and glaze interactions will be covered. Learn the ins and outs of our open clay studio while gaining the confidence to work independently in an open studio environment.
