I'm Sarah Hunt-Frank and I create one-of-a-kind, hand-built vases, using elegant lines and images based in nature.
I have always admired Asian art and design: the subtle suggestion of an image with a few simple shapes or lines, and the visual balance in a work of art. A unique style that I have created is slab-rolled, two-seamed vases in tall elegant forms.
I began doing pottery in 2015 as a hobby. In high school, I studied at Heron School of Art in Indianapolis and Super Saturday classes at Purdue University. In college, I minored in art, and majored in Technical Theater at Ball State University, attended grad school at Penn State in Theater, and have been a professional Scenic Designer for 30 years.
My vases have lovely almond-shaped silhouettes with a smooth surface, contrasting with the rough broken opening at the top of the vase. The decor on my vases is inspired by Asian Art.
In all things, I strive for elegant, sophisticated forms while maintaining simple suggestive images.
