I’m an oil painter living just North of Chicago and I paint Lake Michigan. I love Lake Michigan, it’s where a lot of us find our zen, re-center or ground ourselves in the present moment. I try to recreate those moments through my work.
I paint specifically to keep your mind interested. Using colors and composition, each piece is painted to keep you wandering around the canvas. My hope is, by keeping your interest, you’re brought into the present moment. Where the world slows down, thoughts clear out and you feel the same peace, you do at the beach.
Lake Michigan also makes loving It easy. It’s a pleasure to paint green waters reflecting a perfect sky. Wondering how far is it really to the other side, how deep it is and what would we really find at the bottom? I don’t know what’s at the bottom, but I bet it’s cold. Very cold. It provides and sustains life as we know it. It’s our greatest (and often most overlooked) resource more than deserving of our appreciation and protection. I’m hoping more people to take notice, protect and clean our Great Lake through these paintings.
I truly hope you enjoy what you see and you’re inspired to visit our Lake more, it was an absolute joy and honor to paint. Morgan has been a Lemon Street Member since 2014.
