Kristie Matteau
My work is an exploration in color, texture, and finish with abstract and pop influences. I work primarily in acrylic paint and fibers, creating whatever pops into my head.
I take my artistic influence from across time and genres. My undergraduate degrees are in Art History and Anthropology and I've always been fascinated by how the arts influence culture. Some artists that have influenced me are Robert Motherwell, Juan Miro, Vincent Van Gogh, Helen Frankenthaler, Adolph Gottlieb, Jose Clemente Orozco, and primitive and ancient art. I also follow many current lowbrow, pop surreal, and tattoo artists that inspire me. |
