It is impossible to separate Tom Clark, the artist, from Tom Clark, the teacher, from Tom Clark, the storyteller. Each of them is interwoven into the artwork that he produces. Each art piece tells a story, whether it is that of a broken/mended heart found on the beach, or a lazy fish resting on a hot summer day. His work possesses a textural, visceral quality borne of many years working with kindergarten students who experience life in a very physical way.

Tom often jokes, “The longer I taught children, the more I became one myself.” Tom is currently exploring two art media, picassiette (broken china mosaic), and hand-made paper, but senses that he is being led to other forms as well. His work has been described as “spontaneous, touchable, and childlike.”
