My work as a painter is grounded in a respect for the tradition of painting on one hand, and strong emotional responses to aspects of lived experience on the other. The body of tradition provides a language that informs and constrains the vicissitudes of experience.

I use many sources for my images including photographs, digital images, life, and memory. Each image is a distillation of much reflection, editing, and collaging. It is very rare that I execute a painting or drawing "in one go".
