Mary believes Art provides expressive outlets through enjoyment, participation or creation in any of its forms, and it is therefore quite reasonable that the Arts can provide a platform for peace, progress, acceptance and love one person to another, one classroom, one gallery or theater, and one community at a time. Like a pebble tossed into the water, its ripples will spread! She is a strong supporter of the Arts in Education.
Nature's beauty, architectural points of interest, and the human spirit provide inspiration for much of Mary’s art. Many garden walks, desert visits, lake and ocean coastlines locally and overseas pull her towards composition and color use. Angles, curves, and other architectural intricacies are visually stimulating for her. Catching glimpses of the human spirit in action provide serendipitous moments Mary hopes to capture in an artful way.
Throughout Northern Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Keys, and Mexican coastlines, from San Francisco to the DelMarVa coastline, from Minneapolis to San Antonio and in-between, Mary has been intrigued with native plants, local architecture, and human expressiveness, providing her with moments of awe and a desire to capture some color, shape, line, or texture in a unique way.
Mary’s interests range from photography, watercolors, pastels and inks, to acrylics and metal art more recently. She is truly happy exploring the hands on potential of many mediums and tools, enjoying both the journey and the act of creating. Life changed dramatically for her after multiple surgeries and disability, so having creative time and creative friends are a life saver!
