I don’t remember the first piece of art that really moved me, but it must have been about 35 years ago.  For the past 15 years, I have been making art to see if I could create one of ‘those’ pieces.

Drawing and painting in various mediums, I’ve always felt that oil on canvas was the most respected choice for the two-dimensional artist, probably because most of my favorite works by Masters were oil on canvas.

At this point in my art career I am starting to grasp this combination of paint and substrate…..starting to find my color palette…..beginning to develop a ‘style’.

Working mainly with complementary colors, I like to use planes and grids to change color schemes.  This introduces an architectural element to my usually organic subject matter.

Art history knowledge of Cubism, Impressionism and Fauvism helps me create my works.  Working with oil paints gives me the striking results that moved me so long ago.
