I have been enjoying and photographing nature for decades. To accomplish the various aspects of my nature photography, I use wide angle, telephoto and macro lenses. In viewing landscapes, I take in the “big picture”, but there are always elements and details within a scene that will draw my attention and focus. As my wife can attest, “I will only be gone a few minutes” can easily mean spending hours photographing those various details to make sure I get exactly the images I want. She has learned over the years to always bring plenty to occupy herself during these “few minutes”. I also enjoy photographing wildlife, where my approach is different. I start by initially taking closeups of the bird/animal and then switch to a wider angle lens to include their surroundings/habitat. I have been very fortunate to be able to travel to national parks, state and county parks, natural areas and wildlife refuges throughout the country. I photograph all year long and look forward to what each new season brings with it.
I work very hard on my photography and aim to share nature with others, from my perspective. When I am complimented on my composition or told that a photo looks like a painting – mission accomplished! |
