Brent Mitchell
My visual arts are painting, photography, and sculpture - often combined. When I paint, I use whatever is at hand: tempura, oil, watercolor, food coloring, pens, oil pastels and even house paint. Similarly my sculptures are mostly assembled junk: bones, stones, trash, wood, pieces of rusted metal, etc. I usually form these into animals or thing's shaped forms that are suggestive of an animal. I photograph things rather than people for the most part. When there is numerous ominous, whimsical, or somehow sentient feeling bout a doorway, a house, a chair, I sometimes will get a good picture that captures it. Sometimes it's just light and color that I want to capture, especially with natural forms.
