Born in Milwaukee, WI.to German immigrant parents, I was blessed to have inherited some of my father's natural artistic talents. Throughout my school years I often used art to enhance homework or school projects with much support from my teachers. Upon graduation from Milwaukee Trade and Technical High school with a commercial art major, I had gained employment as a technical illustrator. As a 17 year old working for this publisher was a dream come true. I spent 23 years with this publishing firm and also have over 35 years experience as a local freelance artist. My art has been shown in a few Wisconsin galleries including those in North Lakes, Menomonee Falls, the town of Stockholm, and now Kenosha.
Although I have an extensive computer graphics background, my studio is currently more pen and brushes rather than digital. Pen&Mouse Studio is now more Fine Art centered, but still includes my signature personalized Ink & Watercolor cartoons.
I reside in the quiet outskirts of the Village of Menomonee Falls with my wife Yvonne. My in-home studio is equipped with some of the finest antique tools of the trade including brushes my father once used.
I have also joined the Art Guild of Menomonee Falls as an Artist and Founding Board Member. In the past nine years our membership has created a strong visual arts presence with many opportunities to display our work. The AGMF has brought me the chance to create art for the pure sake of expression. I have begun to paint in new mediums and new styles for themed events which brought growth to each new piece I create. This has sparked my desire to capture the Midwest and its many beautiful attributes, much like my father who painted the European landscapes he enjoyed.
As an avid camper, thoughts of lakes, rivers, hiking trails, or simply the drive getting there, warm the heart. I hope each person that views my work, rekindles a memory of a time or place that brought joy in their life, here in the Midwest or beyond.
